Pimpri: Action will be taken against companies that directly discharge chemical and sewage water through drainage lines into the three rivers namely Pavana, Indrayani, Mula flowing through Pimpri- Chinchwad city.

A survey will be done in the riverside areas in this regard, said Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil. In all these three rivers, some companies in the city are discharging sewage mixed chemicals through drainage lines.  Therefore, the issue of river pollution has come to the fore. Officials of Municipal Corporation’s Drainage Department and Maharashtra Pollution Control Corporation inspected the Chikhli area. Accordingly, a case has been registered against six companies in Chikhli police station.

“We have started a survey of the three rivers. So far cases have been registered against 6 companies for discharging chemicals into the river. Few companies release the waste in drains but few discharge in rivers which is causing river pollution and therefore we have begun the survey. We will be making arrangements to ensure that waste water is released in drainage,” added Patil.
