A ‘safety audit’ of all swimming pools within the limits of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation will be conducted soon. 

PCMC’s Sports Department Officer Mininath Dandavte informed that the action will be started immediately.

Mahesh Landge, MLA, Bhosari Constituency, Pimpri Chinchwad, said “A gas leakage incident took place at the Kasarwadi swimming pool. Due to this, citizens started having difficulty in breathing. Had to be admitted to hospital. This is very worrying. Municipal administration should seriously investigate this incident. Also, safety audits should be made mandatory for the concerned contractors, agencies on all swimming pools. The administration has been advised not to compromise on the safety of the citizens.”

As per further information, an incident of chlorine gas leakage occurred in Kasarwadi swimming pool of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. As a result, several people, including citizens, lifeguards and security guards, who had come to swim due to difficulty in breathing, have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. As soon as he got information about this, BJP MLA Mahesh Landge immediately rushed to the hospital. Inquired about the health of the treated citizens.

Meanwhile, MLA Mahesh Landge suggested that the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Administration should bear the cost of the treatment of the patients admitted to the private hospital in this accident. A safety audit of all swimming pools in the city should be conducted on behalf of the municipal administration. Such an incident should not occur in the future. For this, the administration should issue a show cause notice to the concerned contractors and officials. Also, MLA Mahesh Landge suggested that action should be taken against the culprits.
