Pune: As the officials from the tax collection department of Chikali sealed the water connection at  Aishwaryam Courtyard and Sai Shraddha Park, it generated chaos among residents

However, after interference from PCMC Assistant commissioner Nilesh Deshmukh who is also head of the tax department, the action was revoked.

“We are still thinking of implementing the penalty of cutting the water connection for not paying property tax. Officials from the tax collection office in Chikali had sealed the connection and not cut the connection. I immediately told them to resume the connection,” said Nilesh Deshmukh, Assistant Commissioner, and head of the PCMC tax department.

Sanjeevan Sangle, Chairman, Chikali Moshi Co-operative  Housing Societies Federation said, “Suddenly in the morning officials from the Chikali tax office came and sealed the connection of two societies – Aishwaryaum courtyard and Sai Shraddha Park, people from societies panicked. Officials from the tax department are harassing us as the majority of people from societies have paid the taxes. It is like 70% of the society population have paid the tax and 30% are remaining. PCMC should have not have sealed the water connection of the complete society. We immediately contacted Mahesh Landge  (MLA) from Bhosari, he interrupted and the connection was restored.”
