PCMC Smart city work leads to society’s wall collapse
Though the officials are ready to rebuild the wall, they have asked the society to construct the RCC beam to avoid cracks in the wall, later on.
Pimple Saudagar: The wall of Rose County housing society in Pimple Saudagar collapsed on the midnight of January 7th due to the ongoing Smart city road work by Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. The PCMC Smart city officials say that the wall was not having a reinforced cement concrete beam due to which it collapsed easily. Residents also agree that the wall had a crack earlier. Though the officials are ready to rebuild the wall, they have asked the society to construct the RCC beam to avoid cracks in the wall, later on.
Ganesh Dhamagunde, a resident of Rose County, said, “The construction work of the road leading from Shivar Chowk has been in progress for the last one year. Six months back, a crack developed on the wall and now, the wall collapsed on Friday night. We have complained about the crack to the Smart City Officer and they have assured us to get the wall rebuilt.”
Speaking about the same, Aniket Dhaygude, site checking engineer of PCMC Smart City said that they conducted the meeting with the society members regarding the issue. “As the wall was not having a reinforced cement concrete (RCC) beam, it collapsed during the construction work. We are ready to rebuild the wall.”
Shatrughan Kate, former corporator of Pimple Saudagar said that he visited the area on January 9th, Monday. “The wall has had cracks due to the trees around it. It is true that the wall collapsed due to the road work. I request PCMC to rebuild the wall,” he said.
