From a tender age of ten, Tarini embarked on a journey to positively transform the lives of waste pickers in India. Her efforts have now earned her The Diana Award, a distinction reserved for young change-makers who embody the spirit of compassionate activism.

Under the banner of Project Ashtami, Tarini has orchestrated numerous initiatives to instigate change. She has orchestrated waste collection drives, led awareness campaigns on efficient waste management, and ingeniously fundraised for the education of children of waste pickers. Notably, her innovative approach also includes the creation of sustainable personal hygiene products. Additionally, she championed the ‘red dot’ campaign, sensitizing the community to mark menstrual waste for the safety of waste pickers.

Through her unwavering commitment, Tarini has effectively diverted more than 9,000 kg of waste away from landfills, secured scholarships for underprivileged students, and sensitized communities towards responsible waste management practices. Her endeavors have not only inspired her peers but have also gained recognition from school authorities, the PCMC municipal commissioner, and significant coverage on social media platforms.
