New changes in criminal laws now allow citizens to file complaints from anywhere in the country, including via WhatsApp. This new facility is aimed at easing the process for victims and complainants who feel pressured to visit police stations in person.

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate has introduced a WhatsApp number, 8767659331, for lodging complaints. This move marks a significant shift from previous laws, which were focused on the accused, to new laws that prioritize justice. The new legal framework gives official status to technical evidence such as photographs, CCTV footage, recorded conversations, and location data.

Previously, filing a complaint required visiting a police station, which could be daunting for many. The option to file complaints via WhatsApp provides a major relief to those who face difficulties in reporting crimes in person.

Since May 4, 2024, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police have received 20 complaints through this WhatsApp number. Additionally, the facility for electronic complaints (e-filing) is available, but complainants need to visit the police station within three days to officially register their complaint. This change is expected to benefit individuals who cannot report incidents immediately.

For more details or to file a complaint via WhatsApp, citizens can visit the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police website at [pcpc.gov.in](https://pcpc.gov.in/) or check the police station’s notice boards for the WhatsApp number.
