In a bid to boost students’ learning experiences, the Education Department of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has launched QR codes for school supplies purchasing. This move aims to ensure students in municipal schools have access to top-notch educational resources. With these QR codes, both students and parents can conveniently buy school essentials from authorized suppliers in their zones.

Around 51,000 students from grades 1 to 10 will benefit from this initiative, receiving textbooks, uniforms, notebooks, and more via Direct Benefit Transfer. To ensure a uniform distribution across schools, eight contractors have been enlisted, each assigned to a municipal zone.

During the initial school week, these contractors will set up camps at schools to facilitate material purchases, urging parents to use the QR codes linked to their children’s names. Shekhar Singh, Commissioner and Administrator, emphasized how this tech upgrade enhances transparency in material distribution, promoting fairness.

Assistant Commissioner Vijayakumar Thorat stressed the department’s dedication to quality, with QR codes ensuring access to reliable materials from approved suppliers. This innovative approach reflects the municipality’s commitment to student welfare and equitable education access.
