Pimpri-Chinchwad, December 10, 2025: In a significant step toward establishing an independent judicial system for Pimpri-Chinchwad, the state government has sanctioned 54 posts required for the new District and Additional Sessions Court as well as the Senior Civil Court. The update was shared by Bhosari MLA Mahesh Landge, who described the approval as a milestone for the fast-growing city.

Despite receiving a separate police commissionerate in 2018 due to rising population and increasing civil and criminal cases, residents have continued to travel over 16 km to Pune’s Shivajinagar court for hearings. This long-standing inconvenience has affected both citizens and the police force for years.

According to Landge, the demand for a dedicated district and sessions court had been pending for nearly two decades. Although the project had been cleared earlier in a Cabinet meeting, lack of sanctioned posts delayed progress. With the latest approval, the final administrative barrier has now been removed, allowing the judicial infrastructure to move toward implementation.

The MLA said the new courts will ease the load on Pune’s judiciary, reduce travel time and expenses for litigants, and help expedite case resolution for a city that now has a population exceeding 35 lakh.

He expressed appreciation to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the state government for advancing the long-awaited plan and delivering long-term relief to Pimpri-Chinchwad residents.
