Pune, December 10, 2025: The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of the Pune Customs Commissionerate (Pune Zone) seized hydroponic marijuana valued at approximately ₹2.29 crore at Pune International Airport on Monday. 

Officers arrested one passenger who arrived from Bangkok on IndiGo flight 6E-1096 after contraband was found hidden in his luggage.

According to officials, the seizure followed detailed profiling by the AIU team. A search of the passenger’s check-in bag led to the recovery of two airtight, sealed packets containing 2,299.44 grams of hydroponic weed, a premium-grade marijuana variety grown using controlled hydroponic systems.

The illicit substance was confiscated, and the passenger was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985

Authorities stated that further investigation is underway to identify the supply chain and intended recipients of the smuggled narcotics.
