Pimpri, August 29, 2024 – The ‘Participatory Budget’ initiative launched by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has received an enthusiastic response from the citizens, with the corporation receiving over 1,000 suggestions to date. This initiative allows residents to participate in the city’s budget planning process by submitting their ideas and suggestions on various issues, solutions, and projects from the comfort of their homes through the “PCMC Sarathi APP.”
To raise awareness about the ‘Participatory Budget’ initiative, PCMC has partnered with a designated agency that is actively visiting numerous colleges across the Pimpri-Chinchwad area. Representatives are explaining the significance of the Participatory Budget to students in their classrooms, covering topics such as how roads, parks, water supply, and other amenities are provided, how financial decisions are made, and the importance of budgeting. Students are being encouraged to participate in this process by scanning QR codes in their classrooms to share feedback on local amenities and issues.
Additionally, around 500 garbage collection vehicles are being effectively used in the awareness campaign. These vehicles are playing promotional messages about the Participatory Budget initiative as they move through every neighborhood in the city, encouraging citizens to scan the QR code and participate.
The campaign has also extended to industrial companies, government offices, hospitals, labor hubs, and even temples during Janmashtami celebrations. The extensive use of social media has helped the campaign reach approximately 1.5 million citizens in Pimpri-Chinchwad.
The PCMC urges all residents to actively participate in the city’s development by submitting their suggestions through the PCMC Smart Sarathi App.
