Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Pune Metro’s underground stretch between Civil Court and Swargate on September 26, 2024. This marks his sixth visit to Pune in connection with the metro project, showcasing his commitment to urban development and public transportation.
Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, praised PM Modi’s involvement in the project. “We promised, and we delivered. The PM carried out the groundbreaking of this project and has come himself for its inauguration,” Mohol stated. This highlights the government’s focus on delivering infrastructure projects.
The Pune Metro project has been a priority for PM Modi, who laid the foundation stone on December 24, 2016. Since then, he has personally attended five Maha-Metro programmes, including groundbreaking ceremonies and inaugurations.
During his visit, PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for extending the route from Swargate to Katraj and an elevated corridor from Pimpri Chinchwad to Nigdi. This expansion will further enhance Pune’s transportation network.
The new underground metro line boasts modern features, including advanced security systems, digital information displays, and eco-friendly technology. With the inauguration of the underground stretch, Pune residents can expect reduced traffic congestion and faster commute times.
PM Modi will address citizens at the S P College Ground after the inauguration, emphasizing the government’s vision for Pune’s development.
The completion of the first phase marks a significant achievement for Pune’s infrastructure growth, paving the way for further expansion and development.
