On 16th March (Saturday), the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has removed unauthorized constructions such as showrooms, furniture malls etc on Pashan side on Mumbai-Pune highway.

As per further information from the PMC “Strong action has been taken on behalf of the PMC against unauthorized showrooms, furniture malls etc on the Pashan side on Mumbai-Pune highway. About 3 lakh square feet of construction was demolished in this operation. This action was taken because the traffic on the highway was obstructed.”

PMC further shares “Under the guidance of PMC Superintendent Rajesh Bankar, Executive Engineer Bipin Shinde, Deputy Engineer Sunil Kadam, Branch Engineer Rahul Rasale, Sameer Gadai did this operation.”

Netizens have actively commented on this.

An X user says “Was the PMC sleeping until 3 lakh square feet of unauthorized constructions were happening? Once the invested money is recovered, then the illegal construction is demolished. That is, the public is at a loss.”

Another X user said “Basically, what are our administrative officers doing when these shops are being built on such a large scale, illegal constructions are being made, then whose power is there, whose blessings are there, the next action is decided on the basis of financial calculations. This is called a smart city. Hail to the progressive state!”

Another X user comments “Action is being taken only on illegal shops, also look at illegal mosques. On the road, under the bridge, under the banyan tree, everywhere you look, you will see a green cloth.”

Another X user commented “Was the PMC sleeping? Money may have been taken. Since election is there now, the drama will continue. Money talks. How many officers were suspended?”

Another X user tweets “Pick up the remaining pieces and throw them away and build a wall there. As soon as your back is turned, the business starts immediately. All are people of peaceful society and behind them is HEMRL which is important for India’s security. PMC will have to take responsibility if there is any terrible attack tomorrow.”

Another X user tweeted “They come back in a few days twice as fast as you take drastic action. Do something permanent.”
