The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced that it will begin charging a penalty amount on the arrears left on the non-paid water supply bills.

As per further information from the PMC, all the commercial and residential citizens in the Pune Municipal Corporation limits, Khadki Cantonment Board and Pune Cantonment Board, are already being billed through water meters according to water consumption. As no interest is charged on the overdue water bills, it has been noticed by the Pune Municipal Corporation that the arrears on the water supply bill are increasing on a large scale which haven’t been paid.

Therefore, if the bill is not paid within 60 days from the date of the water meter bill, the Pune Municipal Corporation has decided to charge penal interest at the rate of 1% per month on the outstanding amount as per rule 41 of Chapter VIII, Taxation Rules of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act, 1949.

Since the said decision has been taken afresh, a deadline of 60 days is being given to pay the dues between 31/01/2024 & 31/03/2024. All citizens should note that a penalty interest of 1% per month will be charged on the outstanding amount from 01/04/2024 and on any overdue amount thereafter.

Arrangements have been made to pay the bills to all customers who are supplied with water through meters by the Pune Municipal Corporation. However, if the customers do not receive the bills, they should obtain their water meter bills up to 31/01/2024 from the PMC and pay the outstanding amount before 31/03/2024.
