State Excise Department conducts raids in Bibwewadi and Katraj areas; Rs 5.85 Lakh worth foreign liquor seized

On (Thursday), the State Excise Department, Pune conducted a raid in Bibwewadi & Katraj areas.

As per information from Yuvraj Shinde, Deputy Superintendent, State Excise Department, Pune, from Bibvewadi, 96 sealed bottles of 180 ml capacity each of foreign liquor were found & seized along with a two-wheeler vehicle. On further inquiry, the accused said that it was stored in his own house. Accordingly, when another raid was conducted in Bibvewadi, 36 sealed bottles of 750 ml each and 480 sealed bottles of 180 ml capacity each (13 boxes) of various brands were found & seized.

Thus, during the raid in Katraj, 80 sealed bottles of 750 ml capacity each of illegal foreign liquor of various brands were found & seized.

When a raid was conducted at another place in Katraj, Pune, 301 sealed bottles (25 boxes) of 750 ml capacity of various brands of foreign liquor and 348 sealed bottles (7 boxes) of 180 ml capacity were found at the said place.

When raids were conducted at all places, a total of 417 sealed bottles (35 boxes) of 750 ml capacity each and 828 sealed bottles of 180 ml capacity each (total 17 boxes), hence 52 boxes of illegal foreign liquor of various brands were seized.

Also, a two-wheeler vehicle and an iPhone were seized. The total estimated value of all is Rs 5,85,850.

The said action was taken in the background of 31st December of Christmas and New Year and to take action against illegal foreign liquor and beer transporters and sellers, the excise department has formed special enforcement teams and through them, action is being taken at various places in the Pune district.
