Pune : The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to transform the road connecting Baner and Sancheti Hospital into a corridor without traffic signals. This is an effort to alleviate the traffic congestion on Ganeshkhind road, which has been exacerbated by the ongoing construction of a flyover and metro.

The PMC intends to widen the road to 45 meters, but doubts remain about its effectiveness in light of the expected increase in vehicle numbers. To address this persistent issue comprehensively, the decision has been made to convert the road into a signal-free corridor.

The plan is ambitious and involves the installation of an underpass to replace the Baner Road to Sancheti signal. The inspiration for this approach comes from successful models in Delhi. The initial report on the project is expected to be released by November 30. Subsequent measures will be taken to permanently resolve the problem of traffic congestion.
