Five people were detained by Pimpri-Chinchwad police for allegedly stealing aviation fuel from a tanker close to the Shantai Hotel in Talegaon Dabhade, near the old Pune-Mumbai highway, according to authorities.

Following the incident on March 6, Crime Branch unit 4 of the Pimpri-Chinchwad police arrested Mangesh Dabhade (42), Elaihi Saifan Faras (45), Anil Satairam Jaiswal (28), Amol Balasaheb Garade (31), and Parshuram, also known as Sonya Dhondiba Gaikwad (36). The offenders were placed under police custody until March 11 while they were being presented in court.

Police were notified of a group of people who had bought a driver close to the Shantai Hotel in Somatane Phata in order to steal Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) from a tanker. As a result, a police squad raided the location and took all of the accused into custody. According to the police, landowner Dabhade and his friends Garade and Gaikwad bribed Faras and Jaiswal, two truck drivers, and were apprehended while transferring to ATF. Police claim that the accused were profiting from the illicit sale of ATF on the black market.

Plastic cans, barrels, and other items used to steal ATF were found by police during the raid on a truck valued at ₹1.59 lakh. The accused Dabhade is an on-record criminal, according to the police, and the Talegaon Dabhade police station already has five cases filed against him.

The Talegaon Dabhade police station has received a case under IPC sections 379, 285, 511, 34, and other pertinent acts.
