Allegations of corruption and negligence surrounding the recent Kalyani Nagar accident spark outrage.

In the wake of a recent accident in Kalyani Nagar, Pune, MLA Ravindra Dhangekar of the Kasba Constituency took to X to express his dissatisfaction with the handling of the investigation by the Pune City Police Commissioner, Amitesh Kumar. Dhangekar accused Kumar of negligence and implied corruption within the police force, particularly targeting individual officers.

In a series of tweets Dhangekar directly addressed State Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis, criticising the lack of progress in the investigation and alleging bias in the commissioner’s actions. He stated, “Pune City Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar still does not think anyone is guilty. Of course, who himself is working on the builder’s mercy, how can he take action against anyone…?”

Further, Dhangekar stated that he intended to expose alleged mismanagement at various police stations in Pune, starting with the Mundhwa Police Station. He claimed that the station, manned by only three employees, including constables Nilesh Palve and Kale, was involved in illicit activities such as collecting dues from pubs and hotels.

The X post also contained photographic evidence purportedly showing one of the constables involved in the alleged misconduct. Dhangekar urged immediate investigation into the matter, citing to unveil further evidence of wrongdoing if action was not taken promptly in the coming 48 hours.

An X user, Tushar Tajane, responded to the tweet and stated, “An active politician in Maharashtra is bringing such things to the public on his own. Hats off .”

These accusations have sparked outrage among citizens, who are demanding accountability and transparency from law enforcement agencies. Concerns about corruption and negligence within the police force have escalated, with many calling for thorough investigations into Dhangekar’s claims.
