Politicians Attempting to Malign Society Members During Election Period – Allege Citizens Federation of Moshi Chikhali Charholi
Pimpri, 19th September: With the upcoming assembly elections, political figures are claiming they will solve society-related issues, setting a trap for society members. These leaders are luring members by stating, “Media representatives are coming to understand your problems… speak out, and try to resolve them.” However, these recorded statements are being used for political gains, broadcast on social media with ulterior motives. Society members are becoming unwitting victims of this manipulation, warned Sanjivan Sangle, President of the Chikhli-Moshi-Charholi-Pimpri-Chinchwad Society Federation.
There are around 2,500 to 3,000 housing societies in Pimpri-Chinchwad, and society members are crucial voters in the elections. To attract these voters, candidates are employing various tactics. The Society Federation continually works to resolve these issues, and members have a strong collective voice. However, political forces are now attempting to exploit societies’ problems for their gain during election season.
Sangle explained that after the inclusion of neighboring villages into Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation in 1997, new housing projects started with the expectation that the municipality would provide basic infrastructure. Unfortunately, these essential services weren’t fully developed, leading to issues like water supply, parking, garbage management, electricity, roads, and garden facilities. Despite this, society federations across the city are working hard to resolve these problems.
He added that the Society Federation had successfully stopped the Punaavale garbage depot, suspended the user fee imposed on society members, canceled the proposed waste transfer center in Charholi, developed roads and gardens in society areas, and implemented the garbage processing project at the Moshi depot. They also brought 100 MLD of water to the city through the first phase of the Andra and Bhama Askhed projects. The federation has stood firmly with society members against the negligence of builders and the administration.
Political Agendas Polluting Society Atmosphere
Political leaders, backed by builders, are using society members’ issues as political tools. Certain individuals in society WhatsApp groups are spreading the message that media representatives are coming to discuss problems, encouraging members to share grievances. These video reactions are then used for political purposes on social media. Additionally, false information, negative messaging, and inflammatory videos against political leaders are being circulated within society groups, creating divisions and a toxic environment.
As a result, society, its office bearers, and the area are being unjustly maligned. Society members are urged not to provide politically motivated video bites and to restrict negative political posts in group chats. This will help prevent conflicts and maintain unity among society members. The Society Federation and its members do not represent any political party, but they stand with leaders who consistently take initiative in addressing society issues, said Sanjivan Sangle.
