Potholes plague Kunal Icon Road and service road from Wakad Flyover to Bhumkar Chowk
The service road stretching from Wakad flyover to Bhumkar Chowk has fallen victim to deplorable conditions, with potholes and other road issues persisting for an extended period of time Similar, problem is causing inconvenience to the residents of Pimple Saudagar.
The residents complained that the road resurfacing that was carried out recently did not have quality material. Hence, we can now see potholes being created on roads at various places.
Prashant Dhakane, a dedicated civic issue activist from Pimple Saudagar, expressed his concern about the deteriorating state of the service road. He emphasized the limited alternative routes towards Hinjewadi, an area known for its high concentration of offices and a substantial workforce. The frequent halting of buses and heavy vehicles on the service road has exacerbated the situation. Potholes have littered the entire stretch, posing a significant challenge to commuters.
The Kunal Icon road residents in Pimple Saudagar are similarly grappling with the road issue with non-motorable roads at many places. Residents have often complained that water logging, muddy puddles are some of the common complaints shared by them and blame PCMC for its inaction.
Bharat Todkari, a consulting engineer representing the NHAI, acknowledged the road issues plaguing various sections, including Wakad and its surrounding areas. He attributed the emergence of potholes to the heavy rainfall in the region. However, he assured the public that the NHAI is diligently addressing the situation by implementing effective measures to repair the roads and fill the potholes. Specifically, for the service road from Wakad flyover to Bhumkar Chowk, Todkari stated that the NHAI has devised comprehensive solutions and planned appropriate actions to resolve the issue promptly.
