Pune wrestler Prithviraj Mohal has won the 67th Maharashtra Kesari title by defeating Mahendra Gaikwad in the final held on February 2. With this victory, Mohal secured the prestigious silver mace and a Thar car, which were presented by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Union Minister Muralidhar Mohol, Minister Dattatreya Bharne, Legislative Council Chairman Ram Shinde, and Water Resources Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil.

Mohal’s victory was celebrated by his fans, but the competition was overshadowed by a major controversy in the semi-final match. In the semi-final, Mohal faced Shivraj Rakshe and emerged victorious. However, the referee’s decision declaring Rakshe defeated led to chaos. Rakshe was accused of kicking the referee in protest against the decision, sparking a commotion in the arena.

The situation escalated, and the police had to intervene to restore order. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was present at the venue during the incident. Following the dispute, Rakshe demanded a review of the match.

Despite the controversy, Prithviraj Mohal was officially declared the Maharashtra Kesari 2025 winner, marking a significant achievement in his wrestling career.
