Pune: ABVP Holds Protest March Against Alleged NEET Irregularities, Demands Transparent Exam System
Pune, May 19, 2026: Members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a symbolic protest march on Tuesday against alleged irregularities in the NEET examination and the functioning of the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The protest was organised in response to allegations of a NEET question paper leak, which ABVP claimed had severely affected the future of nearly 22 lakh medical aspirants across the country.
During the agitation, ABVP activists criticised repeated incidents of examination-related malpractices and questioned the transparency and credibility of the current entrance examination system for professional courses.
Student leaders alleged that the leaked paper had reached several states before the examination, undermining the efforts of lakhs of students who had spent years preparing for the highly competitive medical entrance test.
Addressing reporters during the protest, Pune Metropolitan Minister of ABVP, Radhey Bahegaonkar, said the alleged irregularities reflected serious flaws in the existing examination system.
He stated that the central government should review whether the present admission and examination mechanism for professional degree courses is functioning effectively and whether a more transparent and student-centric alternative system could be introduced in the future.
ABVP also reiterated its long-standing demand for a transparent, accountable and student-focused examination process, stating that repeated paper leak incidents were eroding public trust in national-level competitive examinations.
