Various extension projects have been going on at the Pune Airport as in current state it is the only Airport in Western Maharashtra. Therefore, the work of expansion of the airport has been in progress for the last few years, wherein a new cargo terminal will be constructed with the capacity of 36,000 tonnes and is expected to open in March 2023.

From Pune Airport over 160 – 180 flights depart to different places and nearly 30,000 passengers travel on daily basis. Around 100 tonnes of goods are transported to various states and countries.
