Pune, September 2, 2025: In a significant operation, the Customs Department at Pune International Airport seized 13.7 kg of hydroponic cannabis, valued at several crores in the international market, from four passengers who had flown in from Bangkok.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Aliya Ilyas Ansari (24), Mohammed Kaif Ansari (23) of Mumbra, Thane; Zahid Husain Shaikh (29) of Gujarat; and Zaibunisa Amin Shaikh (46) of Boisar, Palghar district.

According to officials, the suspects were observed moving hurriedly toward the airport exit, arousing suspicion. Upon inspecting their luggage, officers detected a strong odor and discovered 26 vacuum-sealed packets of processed cannabis concealed inside.

Authorities confirmed that the seized narcotics were hydroponic cannabis, a high-grade variety cultivated using advanced techniques and known for its premium value in illicit markets.
