The ongoing dense fog crisis in New Delhi has had a cascading impact on flight operations across the country, with Pune Airport experiencing the cancellation of nine flights and delays in several others. On Thursday, four flights departing from Pune Airport to Delhi were cancelled by noon, while many incoming flights from Delhi faced delays, causing inconvenience to passengers.

According to the Airports Authority of India (AAI), flights connecting Pune with other destinations like Hyderabad, Goa, Lucknow, and Amritsar also experienced disruptions. The situation in Delhi has been exacerbated by dense fog, leading to a “severe” Air Quality Index (AQI) as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

The Met department issued an orange alert in Delhi as visibility dropped to around 50 meters. Flight and railway operations to Delhi have been significantly affected, with over 100 flights canceled on Wednesday, and a higher number expected on Thursday.

Pune Airport Director Santosh Dhoke reported that nine flights operated by various airlines were cancelled from Wednesday midnight to Thursday noon due to the challenging conditions in Delhi.
The flights that were cancelled are SpiceJet’s SG0948 (Pune to Hyderabad) and SG0937 (Pune to Delhi); Indigo’s 6E0721 (Pune to Amritsar), 6E0159 (Pune to Goa), 6E0672 (Pune to Goa), 6E2472 (Pune to Delhi) and 6E0338 (Pune to Lucknow); Air India’s AI0852 (Pune to Delhi) and Vistara’s UK0972 (Pune to Delhi).
