Pune Among Hottest Cities as Maharashtra Sees Unusual February Heatwave
Maharashtra is experiencing an unusual rise in temperatures, with February already witnessing extreme heat. In several parts of the state, both maximum and minimum temperatures have increased significantly.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted temperature fluctuations in the coming days.
IMD has stated that temperatures in Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada will not change drastically in the next 24 hours. However, a gradual drop of 1-2°C is expected.
The northern parts of the state may see a 1-2°C drop in minimum temperatures in the next 24 hours.
Over the next 2-3 days, temperatures in Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada may fall by 2-3°C. In Vidarbha, maximum temperatures will rise by 2-3°C in the next three days, followed by a similar drop.
The minimum temperature in Vidarbha will increase by 2-3°C in the next two days, before dropping by 2-4°C.
Hottest Cities on February 10
Several cities recorded high temperatures on February 10:
– Shahada (Nandurbar) – 40.3°C
– INS Shivaji, Lonavala (Pune) – 38.3°C
– Karad (Satara) – 38.5°C
– Akola – 37.7°C
– Karjat (Raigad) – 37.6°C
– Talegaon (Pune) – 38.2°C
– Palghar – 37.2°C
– Solapur – 37.1°C
Cities with moderate temperatures (35°C – 37°C) include Chandrapur (36.3°C), Aurangabad (35.5°C), Dhule (35.2°C), and Latur (35.4°C).
Pune has seen a significant rise in temperature in recent days.
On February 1, Koregaon Park recorded 31.5°C, which jumped to 37°C on February 8. The IMD report confirms that Pune is now among the hottest cities in India.
