Pune: Anandvan Foundation Plants 400 Trees In Urban Forest Initiative Near HandewadiÂ
In the last week of September, the Anandvan Foundation inaugurated its sixth Urban Forest, Anandvan 6, near NIBM, bringing together over 250 participants to plant more than 400 trees in under six hours. Spanning 150 acres in the Mohammadwadi-Hadapsar area, Anandvan 6 is now one of Pune’s largest green spaces.
The initiative, led by environmental advocate Kumar Uncle, aims to transform Pune into a “City of Urban Forests.” Participants of all ages, from children to seniors, contributed to the event, creating a sense of community while promoting environmental stewardship.
A representative from the foundation emphasized that the event was about more than just planting trees—it was about cultivating a collective responsibility for the environment. This successful drive serves as a reminder of the significant impact grassroots efforts can have in revitalizing urban areas and enhancing local biodiversity.
