In Pune, illegal hoardings still find a place on sidewalks, streets, trees and public areas. These structures not only add visual clutter but also put cars and pedestrians in danger. As a result, individuals and groups are intensifying their attempts to force the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to act decisively.

An activist emphasized the necessity for political leaders to follow regulations, pointing out that 50–60% of these hoardings were installed with their help. Such actions negatively impact the city’s image. The problem should be resolved with stringent legal procedures and fines. He would vote NOTA in the next Lok Sabha elections, especially for this reason, as a voter. The primary cause of this issue is political parties.

Due to the huge rise in illegal hoardings, an activist and MG Road resident emphasized the rules being broken and the disregard for the safety of the locals. They want the PMC to act quickly and forcefully to get rid of these unlawful hoardings and use harsh penalties and other measures to discourage similar offences in the future.

According to an RTI activist, the city’s unlawful hoardings are endangering the lives of its residents, and the approaching monsoon is expected to put many more at risk.

A resident advocated for stronger laws and permission requirements after pointing out the difficulties pedestrians encounter as a result of hoardings on sidewalks. Hoardings on sidewalks ought to be prohibited, at minimum. Pedestrians are compelled to endure inconveniences. People should get permission from the designated authority before hanging the hoardings.

According to a senior PMC official, the illegal hoardings in the city are being consistently addressed by the party. In addition, users have the option to tag someone in a picture posted on social media or send them a direct WhatsApp message. In light of this, they will act.
