Pune : PMC demolishes unauthorized constructions in Sutarwadi; 3 lakh sq ft area cleared

Taking strict action against unauthorized showrooms, furniture malls etc on the Mumbai Pune highway in Pashan, Sutarwadi, the building construction department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) demolished approximately 3 lakh square feet of construction on Friday. It is worthy to note that earlier action was also taken against these encroachments but some shopkeepers filed a suit in the High Court in May and obtained a stay order. However, on February 23, the court lifted the stay order and action was taken. 

As per information, action was taken against 20 shops and about 3 lakh square feet of construction were demolished. The said construction falls under the restricted area of the Defense Department, High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL). Due to this furniture mall, there was traffic congestion on the highway. Complaints were made by HEMRL regarding this. In the next week, action will be taken on the shops on the opposite side.

On this occasion, a cutter machine, two jcb, a gas cutter, breaker, 15 workers and policemen participated. Hinjewadi Police Station Chief Senior Police Inspector and other staff were also present. Under the guidance of Superintendent Rajesh Bankar, Executive Engineer Bipin Shinde, Sunil Kadam Deputy Engineer, and Rahul Rasale Branch Engineer, Sameer Gadai completed the said operation.
