Pune, May 19, 2025:
The Association of Nagar Road Citizens Forum has issued a formal press note questioning the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the Maharashtra State Government over alleged blanket permissions granted to Dinesh Engineers for trenching across city roads and footpaths—without clear deadlines for re-instatement or cost responsibility.

In a letter addressed to top officials including PMC Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale, Additional Commissioner Prithviraj BP, Traffic DCP Amol Zende, and Road Department CE Aniruddha Pawaskar, Forum Convenor Qaneez Sukhrani cited growing public concern regarding widespread and uncoordinated trenching work in Viman Nagar and Nagar Road areas.

The citizens’ body has raised a series of unanswered questions:

  • On what basis was the permission granted?
  • Were NOCs obtained from the Traffic Police?
  • Why does PMC’s official letter (Ref: 12893 dated Feb 7, 2025) omit details on re-instatement timelines and responsible parties?

The Forum warned that failure to reinstate trenched roads by May 31, 2025, could pose serious risks to life and public safety during the upcoming monsoon season.

Sukhrani also referred to ongoing litigation in the Bombay High Court (PIL Nos. 88 and 141 of 2023) and attached photographic evidence of the deteriorating condition of road infrastructure.

The Forum has demanded transparency from PMC and requested the following documents:

  • Copy of PMC resolution no. 6/1231 (dated Feb 7, 2025)
  • Detailed list of routes and modifications submitted by Dinesh Engineers
  • A copy of the agreement between PMC and Dinesh Engineers
  • Names and scope of the PMC committee monitoring the work
  • Minutes of the last committee meeting and the frequency of such meetings
  • The detailed plan submitted by Dinesh Engineers

An email is also been sent to state-level authorities, including Deputy CMs Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, urging immediate intervention and accountability.

The Association reiterated its demand for procedural re-instatement of all road stretches before the monsoons begin, to prevent what it calls “avoidable danger to public life.”
