Pune’s own Jinesh Satyan Sheetal Nanal has carved his name into Maharashtra’s sporting history by clinching the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Award for 2023-24 – the highest honor bestowed upon athletes by the state government. A trailblazer in Inline Freestyle Skating, Jinesh’s journey is the perfect blend of passion, perseverance, and podium finishes.

With over a decade of relentless practice under the mentorship of Coach Ashutosh Jagtap, Jinesh has emerged as one of India’s finest skating talents. His recent international feat at the World Games Series in Hong Kong (October 11–13, 2024) – where he secured 1 silver and 1 bronze – reaffirmed his place among the elite. The World Games, held under the International Olympic Committee’s patronage, are a playground for the planet’s best, and Jinesh proved he belongs right at the top.

No stranger to the international stage, he was also a part of Team India at the Asian Games in China. Back home, he has been National Champion for five consecutive years, holds a National Record, and currently sits as India’s No. 1 and World No. 7 in his sport.

Beyond the rink, Jinesh balances his sporting excellence with academic brilliance. A third-year Computer Engineering student at MIT College, Pune, he has earned a scholarship recognizing his dual achievements in sports and studies – a rare and inspiring combination.

Speaking about his student’s achievement, Coach Ashutosh Jagtap shared, “Jinesh’s success is a result of years of grit, focus, and silent determination. He has consistently pushed beyond limits and is a role model for the next generation of skaters. This award is a proud moment not just for him, but for the entire Indian skating community.”

The award ceremony will be held on April 18, 2025, at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi, Pune. The award will be presented by the Governor of Maharashtra, C. P. Radhakrishnan, in the distinguished presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar.

For young athletes dreaming big, Jinesh’s story is a powerful reminder: when talent meets tenacity, legends are born.
