Pune, May 4, 2026: A customer has raised serious concerns about food safety after claiming that a cockroach was found in a biryani served at a restaurant in the Mohamadwadi area near Wanowrie.
The incident reportedly took place at Mountain High Restaurant during a party celebration. According to the complaint, what was expected to be a pleasant outing turned into a disturbing experience when the insect was noticed in the food.
The customer said the incident has raised questions about hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen and food preparation process. They also expressed concern over potential health risks, stating that such negligence could lead to serious issues like food poisoning.
The group had chosen the restaurant for a special occasion but said the experience left them upset and embarrassed.
When Pune Pulse spoke to the restaurant authorities informed them that they carry out frequent fumigation and pest control measures in the restaurant. Such an incident has happened for the first time in 17 years of the restaurant.
The complainant has urged authorities to look into the matter and take necessary action to ensure proper hygiene standards are maintained. They have also sought a response from the concerned management regarding the issue.
