Pune: Devendra Fadnavis Rebukes Sharad Pawar, Calls Him “Fake Narrative Factory” Owner
At a campaign rally for BJP candidate Shankar Jagtap in Chinchwad, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis criticized Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar, labeling him the “owner of a fake narrative factory.” Fadnavis also referred to Pawar’s daughter, Supriya Sule, as the “director,” dismissing their claims of industries leaving Maharashtra as misleading.
Addressing a crowd on Wednesday, Fadnavis stated that contrary to Pawar’s claims, Maharashtra remains the top state in the country for investment, receiving 52% of India’s total foreign direct investment (FDI), as per Niti Aayog and RBI reports. He emphasized Maharashtra’s industrial strength, highlighting Pune as a major IT and technology hub. “Instead of praising Gujarat’s development, leaders like Pawar should acknowledge Maharashtra’s achievements,” he said.
Fadnavis cited the BJP-led government’s success in bringing Maharashtra back to the top investment rank, after slipping during the MVA government’s tenure. He countered Pawar’s recent statement that the Airbus-Tata project was moved to Gujarat from Nagpur, claiming that no industries have left the state under the current government.
Fadnavis also addressed Sule’s statement that 16 companies had left Hinjewadi IT Park. He clarified that while these companies expanded to Tier II cities within Maharashtra, they did not leave the state. Thirteen of these relocations happened during the MVA government’s term, he added.
The Deputy CM also discussed infrastructure issues, noting that the government is actively working to ease Pune’s traffic with the Pune Metro, PMPML’s expanded electric bus fleet, and the upcoming ring road project.
The rally was attended by BJP leaders, including Maval MP Shrirang Barne and Chinchwad MLA Ashwini Jagtap. Fadnavis concluded by honoring the late Chinchwad MLA Laxman Jagtap’s contributions, praising his family for continuing his legacy in local development.
