Pune: Fatal Accident On Talegaon-Chakan-Shikrapur Highway Highlights Need For Urgent Action
Pune: A tragic accident on the Talegaon-Chakan-Shikrapur National Highway near Pimple Jagtap village claimed the lives of three individuals, including two young children. The incident has reignited concerns about delays in the highway’s elevated corridor project. Member of Parliament of Shirur constituency Dr Amol Kolhe expressed his anger on the X handle and demanded immediate solution to the problem.
He said, “The tendering process for the elevated corridor began in December 2023. However, the sudden transfer of the highway project to the Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC) post the Lok Sabha elections has caused significant delays. This administrative setback has forced the project to restart from scratch, leaving commuters vulnerable.”
“Every day, innocent lives are being lost due to government negligence,” Dr Kolhe lamented. Following the accident, a letter was sent to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Public Works Minister Shivendrasinhraje Bhosale, urging them to expedite the project and implement immediate safety measures.
Persistent efforts have been made, including a formal request to the Public Works Minister on December 28, 2024. However, the delay continues, with tragic consequences. Local authorities are calling for immediate action to prevent further loss of life on this perilous stretch.
