Pune: A devastating road accident on the Chakan-Shikrapur highway early Monday (January 6) claimed the lives of a father and his two young sons. The incident occurred near Pimple Jagtap village when a speeding truck collided with their motorcycle. The deceased have been identified as Ganesh Khedkar and his sons, Tanmay (a third-grade student) and Shivam (a second-grade student).
Details of the Accident
According to the Shikrapur police, Ganesh Khedkar was traveling with his sons on a motorcycle when a truck carrying fodder rammed into them. The impact of the collision was so severe that all three died on the spot.
The accused driver Dhyaneshwar Jivan Rankhamb ,35, from Sonegaon in Dharashiv district was under influence of alcohol while driving the truck. He was arrested, said officials. While villagers alleged that the driver was intoxicated, the police have stated that confirmation will depend on the results of a medical examination.
Official Action
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Prashant Dhole visited the accident site to oversee the investigation. The truck driver has been detained, and police are preparing to file charges against him.
