According to the Police, a massive explosion took place at the Specific Alloys Private Limited Company at Solu Village on the Markal Alandi road at around 5:00 PM on Thursday 8th February 2024.

The explosion took place after the raw materials having some inflammable chemicals required for making iron igneous caught fire.

It is reported that the company was shut down for 4 years and still, the inflammable raw materials were kept inside the company without taking proper precautions towards it. Following this, an offence of negligence has been filed against the company’s owners, but no arrest has been made yet.

Samples have been collected from the site of the explosion and have been sent for forensic test for a thorough investigation and the probe is still on to find the cause behind the massive explosion.

The company is located near a residential area which has houses and shops. After the explosion, it caused a loud noise and its sparks emerged and fell over the area of 100 meters which led to causing harm to people, animals and properties around the site. Some of the houses near the site caught fire as well.

People who suffered from injuries and burns were immediately admitted to Sassoon Hospital.

Amongst the deceased were, Santosh Tryambak Mane (50), a Private driver and Nagnath Potanna Panchal (55) were pronounced dead on Thursday, whereas, Ramachandra Maruti Nimbalkar (80) scrumbled to injuries on Friday.

Police arrested 2 people identified as Narendra Surana of Gultekdi and Fanendra Munot of Shivajinavar under section 304 (a), 427, 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) after Police Sub Inspector, Tukaram Khadke lodged an FIR at Alandi Police Station.
