Former IAS officer Sambhaji Zende, renowned for his impactful contributions to Maharashtra’s development, is set to contest in the 2024 assembly elections from the Purandar Haveli constituency. Over his extensive career in administrative roles, Zende worked across various districts in Maharashtra, spearheading significant initiatives that left a lasting impact on the communities he served. Drawing from his vast experience and deep understanding of public needs, Zende is seen as a candidate who not only knows how to bring projects to fruition but is also committed to the well-being of the citizens.

1. Flag Fund Collection: 
Zende led flag fund collection drives in municipal and private schools across Mumbai suburbs and Thane district from 2003 to 2008. These efforts, aimed at instilling patriotism among students and aiding ex-servicemen, earned both districts the top state ranking in collections for six consecutive years.

2. Chief Minister’s Recognition for MHADA Work: As Chief Officer of MHADA, Zende helped propel the redevelopment of the British-era BDD chawls in Worli and Naigaon, overcoming numerous challenges. His dedication to the long-stalled project earned praise from Maharashtra’s then-Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who inaugurated the project in 2017, marking a new chapter for thousands of BDD residents who would receive modern, spacious homes.

3. Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana: Zende personally oversaw the construction of 200,000 affordable homes across the state under the PMAY scheme, emphasizing his commitment to affordable housing for all.

4. Historical Temple Restoration: In his capacity as an administrator, Zende facilitated the restoration of a historic Ganesh temple in Dindori village, Nashik, rallying local youth to rejuvenate this cultural landmark.

5. Sai Temple Construction in Sangamner: Zende led the construction of a Sai temple along the Pravara River in Ahmednagar, uniting the local youth and community in an inspiring collective effort.

Zende, whose work has consistently prioritized community welfare and sustainable development, now seeks the support of Purandar Haveli residents as he transitions from public administration to electoral politics.
