Pune : Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has initiated action against people who have cut 4 trees without permission to install hoardings near Maharashtra Restaurant at Spicer College Chowk in Aundh.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Anil Sabale, Tree Inspector, Tree Authority Department, PMC said, “Strict action has been taken against the owner of an open space next to Maharashtra Restaurant. The miscreants cut the 4 trees, threw the remaining dried leaves, tree debris, etc. in that open space & ran away after which the owner of that space did nothing but leave the debris there. We have already issued 2 notices to the owner & this matter is going on in the court. We are also on the search for those tree cutters who ran away after cutting the trees.”

As per further information from Sabale, for the past few months, the four trees that have been cut include three Almond trees and one Umbar tree. It is noticed that trees have been cut down to erect hoardings in the square next to Spicer School. These trees were cut early on Wednesday i.e. on September 6 morning only one branch of the tree was permitted to be cut by the Pune Municipal Corporation. But it is seen that four trees have been cut down.
