Residents of Laxman Nagar, Mahalunge are in distress as vehicles like cars etc remain parked on both sides of the road, making it difficult for them to drive on the road or take out their vehicles from their residence.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, a resident of Laxman Nagar, Mahalunge, requesting anonymity, said “There is a school nearby the society area. So, what happens is, as the school doesn’t have a proper parking system, the parents coming to drop their children park their cars on the road, causing disturbance in traffic flow & shortage of space for vehicles to drive. We have spoken with the school earlier about this parking issue but the management is not there. The vehicles parked reduce significant space on the entire road nearby the school. Especially in the morning time, traffic due to this happens every day. Whenever there is a function in the school, the number of vehicles parked here increases.”

Another Laxman Nagar Mahalunge resident, requesting anonymity, said “I stay in a society close to the school. This has become an everyday nuisance. Entering and exiting is a big problem. On Saturdays, whenever there is a parents’-teachers’ meeting in the school, the vehicles are simply parked in any manner on both sides of the road with no monitoring done. Hence, we, nearby residents, cannot even enter the road in such situations.”

The resident further said “We are not against having the school in the area. But at least there must be some vehicle management so that residents in the area do not face any difficulty. No one can treat the road as if they own it. The road is for everyone. In the Pune city area, there is at least a ‘P1-P2’ parking system but not here. Parents simply park their vehicles. The residents have to suffer everyday due to this.”

The nearby residents demand that there must be proper parking management from the school so that vehicles coming to the school can also be parked properly & residents of nearby societies won’t have to face inconvenience.

The school authorities remained unavailable to comment on the issue. The residents are seeking cooperation from the school and also a solution from the Pune Traffic Police over the issue.
