Pune hosts wrestling competition on 2nd January
Pune: Maharashtra Olympic Games started on January 2, 2023. Games will be held simultaneously in eight other cities across the state. Over 8,000 athletes will compete in 39 disciplines for the next 10 days.
Pune is hosting the wrestling competition at Balewadi stadium, which began on Monday. The remaining 15 will be hosted in Baramati, Nashik, Nagpur, Jalgaon, Aurangabad, Amravati, Mumbai and Sangli
After 22 years, the games are being organised by the state government in association with Maharashtra Olympic Association (MOA).
The official inauguration ceremony will be held on January 5 at the hands of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and State Sports and Youth Welfare Minister, Girish Mahajan. Pune Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil will be attending the ceremony.
