The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) has taken decisive action against industrial units in Dehu Gaon for violating air pollution and noise regulations. Kashyap Industries, located in Dehu Gaon, received a closure notice from MPCB on ”Thursday, March 14”, for operating without the necessary environmental clearance from the board.

Complaints from residents of Dehu Gaon on January 30 prompted MPCB officials to investigate the matter. Upon inspection on February 21, it was discovered that Kashyap Industries was operating without proper consent from the board and lacked essential pollution control measures. Paint residues were even found on the premises, indicating environmental negligence.

Ravindra Andhale, the regional officer of MPCB in Pune, highlighted ”the severity of the situation, stating that the absence of pollution control devices resulted in harmful air emissions affecting the surrounding environment.” Consequently, Kashyap Industries has been instructed to cease all manufacturing activities immediately and refrain from resuming operations without prior approval from MPCB.

Additionally, Andhale emphasized that any further violation of MPCB directives would lead to legal consequences under the Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, and the Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981.

The closure serves as a stern warning to industries disregarding environmental regulations, signalling MPCB’s commitment to safeguarding public health and the environment.
