Pune, November 13,Ā 2024: The Election Commission of India has approved 12 alternative forms of identification for voters who may not have their Voter ID card on hand, allowing them to vote with any one of these documents, as announced by Pune District Collector and Election Officer Dr. Suhas Divase. He also stated that carrying mobile phones into polling stations is strictly prohibited.
On November 20, 21 constituencies in Pune district will go to the polls as part of the general assembly elections. In preparation, Dr. Divase shared guidelines for voter identification. Voters with a photo voter ID card are advised to bring it to verify their identity at the polling stations.
For voters without a photo voter ID, any one of the 12 approved alternative proofs can be used to confirm their identity.
These include: Aadhaar card, job card issued under MGNREGA, bank or post office passbook with a photo, health insurance smart card under the Ministry of Laborās scheme, driving license, PAN card, smart card issued under the National Population Register (NPR), Indian passport, pension document with photo, government or public sector employee ID with a photo, official ID issued to members of Parliament, Legislative Assembly, or Legislative Council, and special ID cards issued by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment for persons with disabilities.
Voters are advised to bring either their voter slip and photo voter ID or any one of the above alternative proofs when they go to the polling station.

Filming or photographing the voting process is a violation of election confidentiality laws, making mobile phones restricted at polling stations. Dr. Divase urged voters to follow this rule to ensure privacy and prevent any disturbances at polling stations. Voters should adhere strictly to the instructions of the presiding officers and polling officials at the polling station, he added.
