Pune Solapur Highway: Central Railway Engineer, Family Duped Of Rs 4.5 Lakh In IndapurÂ
A senior Central Railway engineer and his family were duped of Rs 4.45 lakh in gold jewellery and cash by two conmen near Indapur on the Pune-Solapur highway. The engineer, his wife, mother, and son were traveling from Nanded to Titwala when their SUV hit a pothole, prompting a halt.
Two men, posing as Good Samaritans, warned them of potential robbery and advised removing their gold jewellery. The engineer, believing their intentions, handed over the jewellery and Rs 10,000 to the duo, who then fled with the valuables.
The engineer realized his mistake and filed a complaint with Indapur police on Monday. The police have registered a case under sections 316 and 318 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and are investigating.
This incident highlights the need for caution when interacting with strangers, especially in isolated areas. Police urge travelers to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
