Pune: In a recent development, the Lonavala police department has urged tourists not to visit Tiger Point in between 7 pm and 7 am. The move comes after reports of incidents of theft and robbery at these popular tourist spots in the evening and nighttime.

According to the police, these incidents have been on the rise in recent times, and they have received several complaints from tourists who have fallen victim to such crimes. The police have stated that the criminals often target tourists who are visiting these areas during the evening and nighttime when the crowd is thin, and it becomes easier for them to carry out their nefarious activities.

Satya Sai Karthik, deputy superintendent of police, Lonavla division said, “These are restrictions are put by the forest department and we are just implementing it.”

The Lonavla police have requested tourists to be cautious and avoid visiting these areas during the mentioned hours. They have also advised small shops and food joints in the area to be operated in stipulated timings.

On 23 April, a team of Lonavala police took action against such food joints operating illegally by 4:00 am without taking proper permission.

In addition, the police, with the help of forest boards, decided to erect sign boards at various points mentioning updated visiting hours for tiger point.

This move by the Lonavala police department is a welcome step towards ensuring the safety and security of tourists in the region. It is hoped that this initiative will deter criminals from carrying out such activities and will help tourists to enjoy their visit to the area without any fear or apprehension.
