The situation regarding the removal of the signature authority of the Chairman of the Pune Market Committee seems to be heading back to the Secretary’s court after the decision of the Board of Directors’ meeting. The state marketing director has instructed the secretary to schedule a board of directors’ meeting within eight days in accordance with the market committee’s approved bye-laws.

Given the chance for an appeal post the board meeting, there is a likelihood that the signature authority matter may return to the Director of Marketing. Following the five-yearly elections last year, conflicts arose within the board of directors, leading to two opposing groups.

One faction has raised concerns about the Pune Agricultural Produce Market Committee Chairman not being consulted on crucial matters. Consequently, ten directors have written to the market committee secretary, urging an immediate board of directors meeting to address the removal of the chairman’s signature authority.

So, the secretary called for the meeting as planned. However, the State Marketing Director, Vikas Rasal, decided to adjourn this meeting. Now, the big question is, what will the Market Committee Secretary, Dr. Rajaram Dhondkar, decide in response to this situation?

The board of directors meeting organized by the secretary was deemed to be against the law. In response, the market committee chairman, Dilip Kalbhor, along with directors Ganesh Ghule and Sudarshan Choudhary, lodged an appeal (number 528) with the State Directorate of Marketing.

As of now, the meeting concerning the removal of the Chairman’s signature authority by the Board of Directors has not taken place. Hence, it would be premature to provide any comments on the issues raised by the applicants at this stage.

After the Board of Directors meeting on the mentioned issues, the applicant will have the chance to appeal through an appeal process. The date for this meeting was set for June 7, which has now passed. Therefore, the Secretary in question is now entitled to make a decision on the application by June 4.

The directors, including Deputy Chairpersons Sarika Hargude, Manisha Harpale, Nitin Dangat, Prashant Kalbhor, Dattatray Paigude, Shashikant Gaikwad, Laxman Keskar, Santosh Nangre, Anirudh Bhosle, and Prakash Jagtap, have requested an urgent Board of Directors meeting to discuss the removal of the Chairperson’s signature authority. Following the Director of Marketing’s orders, a thorough examination will be conducted, and a suitable decision will be made accordingly.
