Pimpri-Chinchwad: In a major push to improve connectivity and reduce congestion along the Pune–Nashik Highway, the Maharashtra government has approved ₹200 crore for land acquisition to build service roads. The announcement was made on Tuesday by Bhosari MLA Mahesh Landge.

Sharing the update on X (formerly Twitter), Landge said the sanctioned funds will support development of the stretch between Nashik Phata and Rajgurunagar in Khed tehsil. The service roads are part of a larger plan to develop an elevated corridor along this high-traffic route.

According to Landge, the construction of service roads will help streamline vehicular movement, reduce travel time, and lower fuel consumption for thousands of daily commuters.

He said the project is expected to significantly ease the increasing congestion on the highway and boost regional development.

The MLA thanked the state government for its approval, calling it a “much-needed relief” for motorists who rely on the corridor every day. He added that the confidence shown by residents of Pimpri-Chinchwad continues to drive efforts toward long-term and sustainable infrastructure upgrades.

Chakan Traffic Expected to Improve

The Chakan Industrial Area, known for heavy vehicular load and persistent bottlenecks, is also likely to benefit from the upcoming development. Located between Rajgurunagar and Nashik Phata, the region sees dense industrial traffic. Experts say the new service roads will help ease congestion around Chakan MIDC, offering smoother traffic flow once the project takes shape.
