Pune, July 13 : The Dighi police on Thursday registered an FIR (first information report) against 15 security guards and arrested some of them for brutally beating residents of a society, where they were deployed for work, over a pity issue.

The security guards of Pride World City society allegedly beat three residents — Mangesh Matpati, Swapnil Tukaram Deokar and Chandrasekhar Hanumant Roman — with iron rod, iron pipe and sticks, causing hand and head injuries to them, police said.

According to police, the incident occurred when the society members confronted them about many incidents of chain snatching, mobile theft and molestation of women that were reported in society premises over last few days.

This led to a heated argument between the society members and the security guards, who then resorted to attack.

Then, the victim Mangesh Matpati filed a criminal complaint at the Dighi police station against 15 to 20 security guards of AK 47 Seven Security Company, who were deployed at the society.

Following which, the Dighi police have registered the case under sections 307, 326, 323 and some other sections of Indian Penal Code.

The Dighi police have arrested some of security guards and are carrying out further investigation into the case, sources added.
