India’s Vijay Chauddhary defeated Canada’s defending World Champion Jesse Sahota in the heavyweight category.

Winnipeg, Canada,31 July, 2023 : Maharashtra Star Wrestler Three-time ‘Maharashtra Kesari’ champion & Additional Superintendent of Police Vijay Nathu Chauddhary brought glory to India in wrestling at the World Police and Fire Games held in Canada on July 29, 2023.

The World Police & Fire Games is considered to be the Olympics for the police force globally. Going against all odds, Chauddhary faced his toughest opponent in the semifinals. He faced the defending world champion Jessi Sahota in a nail biting tussle. Chauddhary defeated Sahota by a score of 11-08.

In the final match, Chauddhary crushed his opponent J. Helinger from the USA by taking a mammoth lead of 10 points, eventually winning the final match by a score of 11-01.

Hailing from Saigaon Bagli village in Chalisgaon district of Jalgaon, Chauddhary is currently working as Additional Superintendent of Police in Anti-Corruption Bureau of Pune Division, in Maharashtra and is already a Three Time Maharashtra Kesari Champion & a National Gold Medalist with several other titles under his name.

Chauddhary was kept in a bio bubble by his coach Hindkesari Rohit Patel and was training as per the Canadian time zone for several months at the Mamasaheb Mohol Wrestling Complex in Katraj, Pune.

Vijay Chauddhary, already a senior & a respected wrestler in the state of Maharashtra has now turned out to be the new Wrestling Sensation of India by winning gold for the nation at the world championship.

Speaking about his victory, Chauddhary quotes, “Few months ago, I won a gold medal for Maharashtra state police force. That day itself I had decided that I have to win a gold medal for my country at the world police games. Today all my hard work has paid off as I have made my country proud.”

“This win was only possible because of the constant support by my Senior Police Officers from the Maharashtra State Police Department, my family, my well-wishers and by god’s grace.” stated Chauddhary.

Chauddhary added that he dedicates this victory to every police official of India who serves the society by putting the nation first. He dedicates this gold medal to the entire Indian Police Force.
