Pune : The election campaign for the Chinchwad and Kasba Peth assembly by-polls ended at 6:00 pm on Friday amid last-minute confidence expressed by the political parties about the outcome of the election. According to the election commission, necessary actions will be taken against whoever is found violating code of conduct-related guidelines. Election candidates are not allowed to hold any processions as a part of a political campaign for 48 hours after today’s evening.

During the campaign, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankulke, and a dozen state ministers canvassed in favor of candidates of the saffron party.

NCP Supremo Sharad Pawar, opposition leader Ajit Pawar, NCP state president Jayant Patil, Shiv Sena (UBT Leader) Aditya Thackeray, Congress State President Nana Patole, Amit Deshmukh, and Balasaheb Thorat also campaigned for Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) candidates.

While the BJP’s star campaigners highlighted the development that has taken place in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad in the last five years, MVA stressed the Hindu-centric politics and misgovernance in the cities.

Political parties kept their efforts on till the last minute of the campaigning and exuded confidence about their victory. Candidates from both Chinchwad and Kasba Peth constituencies claimed they will win the seat as they will have no strong opposition. On Thursday, the police administration issued CrPC 144 orders, under which probationary orders were given at 73 polling centers and 270 polling booths across the city. Adequate security measures have been taken across Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, a senior police officer said.
