Pune: Alarmingly, 10 to 15 lakh youngsters in the Pune district, aged between 18 to 29 years, have not been registered in the voter registration list yet.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Dr Rajesh Deshmukh, Pune District Collector, stated that this matter is very serious as non-registration and non-participation of youngsters in the electoral process is a serious threat to democracy. It is really necessary to increase the participation of youth. For this, all the colleges in Pune district should take the initiative for 100 per cent voter registration of eligible youngsters.

As per information, the district administration is constantly striving to increase the participation of youth in the electoral process. A special campaign is being conducted in which good participation of colleges is expected for the registration of young voters.

Hence, the collector has appealed to all the youngsters of the Pune district, whose names haven’t been registered yet in the voters list, that they must come forward & register their names.
