Pune News: Cyber Thieves Dupe Wanowrie Resident Of ₹7.10 Lakh In Share Market Scam
A 41-year-old Wanowrie resident has fallen prey to a cyber fraud, losing ₹7.10 lakh to thieves who promised high returns on share market investments. The incident occurred between May 18 and June 30, with the victim filing a complaint with the Wanowrie police after failing to receive his refund and principal amount.
According to the complaint, cyber crooks lured victims into downloading an application through the Ankur Kedia link on WhatsApp, promising substantial profits in stock trading. The scammers then convinced him to deposit ₹7.10 lakh into various accounts over time, assuring refunds and lucrative returns. However, when he didn’t receive his money back, he approached the Wanowrie police, reporting the financial fraud.
The police have initiated an investigation into the matter, urging citizens to remain cautious when investing online. “Citizens should verify the authenticity of investment platforms and be wary of unsolicited investment advice. The police also advised citizens to avoid sharing financial information and report suspicious activities to authorities.
